Is your Lakeland Pet Sitter Licensed, Bonded, Insured + Certified? Here’s Why It Matters for Your Pet’s Care!!

When it comes to trusting someone with your pets,  we understand that you want nothing but the best. When you are heading out on vacation, working late, or simply need a helping hand with your pets, ensure that your pet care provider is fully licensed, bonded, insured, and certified is essential.

At Atta Boy! Animal Care, located right here in beautiful Lakeland, Mulberry + Bartow , Florida, we go above  + beyond to give you peace of mind while keeping your pets happy and safe.

Why Does Licensing, Bonding, Insurance, and Certification Matter?

Licensing

As a locally owned business in Polk County, we have:

  • A business tax license to operate in the area (aka we paid the county their share to let us operate here!).
  • A registered  LLC business in the state of Florida

Look up any Florida based company on  SUNBIZ to make sure that business is a legal business that pays taxes annually.  You can rest easy knowing we are a legitimate business in your community.

Bonding + Insurance

Accidents happen, even with the best of intentions, and that’s why we are fully Bonded + Insured through BIC. BIC has been in business over 25 years and has a HUGE history in the pet care world of paying out claims when other company wouldn’t in the same situations. Not all Insurance is equal. This means that in the unlikely event of an injury, property damage, or theft, you’re protected.

What is a Bond? It comes into play if an employee chooses to steal something from a client- the company can have a BOND to cover the cost of the item(s). Each company chooses their limit (the higher it covers the more expensive it is to the company!) This is a must-have when it comes to ensuring your personal items are covered in case of bad choices from a human.

Workman’s Compensation

Atta Boy! Animal Care Employees are covered by workers’ compensation insurance. This  crucial benefit sets us apart from companies that use Independent Contractors. Don’t be fooled by language- they are commonly referred to as IC’s, Staff, or Team to hide they are not employees.

Why does this matter? Independent contractors, unlike employees, are not covered by workers’ compensation insurance. When an injury occurs while they’re working in your home—whether it’s a slip, fall, or a pet-related incident—they can/will  file a lawsuit against you, the client, to cover their medical expenses. Alternatively, they can/will file a claim through your homeowner’s insurance- raising your premiums.
